WMCHealth Advanced Physician Services: Hundreds of Trusted Specialists Ready To Serve You
With nearly 400 doctors who are experts in diverse medical specialties, WMCHealth Advanced Physician Services, a member of the Westchester Medical Center Health Network (WMCHealth), is one of the largest physician groups in New York’s Hudson River Valley.
WMCHealth Advanced Physician Services seeks to improve Hudson Valley health, with care easily accessible for patients close to home. It is recognized across the region for its life-saving culture of excellence and the most scientifically and technologically advanced care of all types.
The Section of Gastroenterology and Hepatobiliary Diseases is composed of experts who are board certified in Internal Medicine and Gastroenterology, employing the most sophisticated and cutting-edge diagnostic and therapeutic technologies available. Besides standard procedures such as upper endoscopy and colonoscopy, many tertiary services are offered at their facilities in Westchester Medical Center that are not widely available elsewhere.
Endoscopic ultrasound has revolutionized cancer diagnosis and staging and has now entered a therapeutic era with pseudo cyst drainage and celiac nerve block. Complex biliary and pancreatic endoscopy cases, such as those requiring lithotripsy, ampullectomy, or Spyglass cholangioscopy, are referred to this unit. The GI Motility Center provides high resolution esophageal, anorectal and sphincter of Oddi manometric studies as well as esophageal impedance and pH studies essential for evaluating patients with refractory reflux symptoms. Other advanced technologies include BARRx radiofrequency ablation of Barrett’s esophagus, capsule endoscopy of the small intestine, placement of the Enterra gastric pacemaker for gastroparesis, and endoscopic mucosal resection of neoplasms. Management of inflammatory bowel disease, Crohn’s and ulcerative colitis are another major focus.
The division is also the medical arm of the Westchester Medical Center Liver Transplantation Program and has been at the forefront of management of hepatitis C, fatty liver disease, primary biliary cholangitis, primary sclerosing cholangitis and other liver conditions.
