Cornea and External Disease: Advanced Eye Specialty Services’ experienced team performs complex corneal surgery, including full and partial thickness keratoplasties (corneal transplantation), treatment of keratoconus (the thinning and bulging of the cornea), and management of ocular surface disease and dry eyes. Physicians treat corneal dystrophies (disorders in which abnormal material accumulates in the cornea) and pediatric corneal disorders as well.
Anterior Segment and Cataract Surgery: Patients may choose to have premium intraocular lenses implanted during cataract surgery to correct vision. Precise calculations on the most state-of-the-art, technologically advanced equipment assure the best outcome. Separately, Advanced Eye Specialty Services also provides cataract and glaucoma surgery together in one operation.
Diabetes, Macula and Retinal Disease: Advanced Eye Specialty Services offers one-stop shopping for the evaluation and analysis of diabetic eye disease, using imaging technology called ocular coherence tomography that is coordinated with a consultation with a retina specialist. The program provides management of age-related macular degeneration with the latest anti-VEGF therapies (which reduce blood-vessel swelling), also offering compassionate counseling and low-vision rehabilitation and management.
Orbital Disease: Physicians provide care for all aspects of complex disease of the orbit (the skull cavity hosting each eye) and periocular area surrounding the eyeball but within the orbit area. This includes repair of traumatic fractures and injuries, treatment of disfiguring eye and eyelid problems and removal of orbital tumors. As required, Advanced Eye Specialty Services physicians combine surgery with neurosurgery and ear, nose and throat physicians for complex procedures involving diseases extending into the brain or sinuses.
Eyelid and Oculoplastic Reconstructive Disease: Advanced Eye Specialty Services treats congenital and acquired disorders of the eyelid, including ptosis (the dropping of the upper eyelid), involutional laxity (sagging of the lower eyelid), inturning lashes or lids, tumors involving the eyelid skin or lid margins, and disorders of the tear ducts and the related lacrimal system.
Pediatric Ophthalmology: Physicians provide complex pediatric ophthalmic evaluations for children who require the expertise of other pediatric specialty providers. Advanced Eye Specialty Services also manages genetic and retinal pediatric ophthalmic disorders and performs pediatric cataract surgery.
