Dr. Mara Lugassy joined Westchester Medical Center in June of 2020 as the Section Chief of Palliative Medicine and Clinical Assistant Professor at New York Medical College.

She holds joint appointments in the Departments of Medicine and Neurology. Prior to assuming these roles, Dr. Lugassy served as the Hospice Medical Director and Vice President of Medical Affairs at MJHS Hospice and Palliative Care in New York City, and on the faculty of the Albert Einstein College of Medicine. She is board certified in both Neurology as well as Hospital and Palliative Medicine, having completed residency in Neurology at the Neurologic Institute of Columbia University Medical Center, followed by a fellowship in Palliative Medicine at the Hertzberg Palliative Care Institute at Mount Sinai Medical Center in New York.
