Dr. Epelbaum is Assistant Professor in the Department of Internal Medicine at Westchester Medical Center (WMC), having joined the faculty of the Pulmonary, Critical Care, and Sleep Medicine division in 2016. In his first year at WMC, he established the Pleural Disease Service and the Bronchial Thermoplasty Program, both innovations for the division. He is currently Associate Program Director of the Pulmonary/Critical Care fellowship and director of the chest clinic. Dr. Epelbaum has authored a number of publications and is an actively engaged member of the American Thoracic Society. He is a fellow of the American College of Physicians and the American College of Chest Physicians. He graduated cum laude from SUNY Downstate College of Medicine, where he was elected to the Alpha Omega Alpha national medical honor society.
Prior to joining WMC, Dr. Epelbaum was the Director of Bronchoscopy and Interventional Pulmonology at Elmhurst Hospital Center and Assistant Professor in the Icahn School of Medicine at Mount Sinai. During his tenure there, he introduced many pulmonary procedures new to the institution, including the establishment of a Bronchial Thermoplasty Program. He was also the founding Program Director of its 3-year, ACGME-accredited Pulmonary/Critical Care fellowship. His talent for teaching was recognized by the Elmhurst Hospital internal medicine residency, which honored him with the Frank A. Ross, MD Distinguished Preceptor Award.
Dr. Epelbaum spends most of his spare time with his wife and three children in and around Forest Hills, Queens.
