Dr. Wandel is Director of the Glaucoma Service. He has been an attending physician at Westchester Medical Center since 1988.
Dr. Wandel completed his fellowship training in glaucoma at the Baylor College of Medicine and a residency in ophthalmology at New York Medical College. His past appointments include Montefiore Medical Center and the New York Eye and Ear Infirmary. Dr. Wandel's current research is on the trans-cornea shunt, a device that can be quickly and easily implanted to lower intraocular pressure. He holds several patents on glaucoma-surgery devices and has served as an industry consultant. Prior to his career in ophthalmology, Dr. Wandel worked in an aerospace medicine program. His vision for the future of the department includes expansion of research and educational programs.
