A Statement Shared With Our Workforce at Westchester Medical Center
We would like to thank everyone for the outpouring of support we have received today regarding the incident on the Valhalla campus. The following is a statement that was shared with our workforce
Earlier today there was an isolated shooting in one room on the fourth floor of Westchester Medical Center involving a patient and visitor. No other patients were involved and all staff remained safe.
We would like to thank our staff for their quick and decisive response to the incident.
We understand this is a traumatic situation for all. A crisis support team was deployed to the floor and counselors are available in the Caregiver Center for all patients, families and staff seeking support. The Caregiver Center will be open as long as necessary.
As you know, safety and security are our priority and we would like to thank everyone for their response and support of our patients, families and each other today and every day.
