Call 844-PEP-4NOW (844-737-4669)
The NYS PEP (post-exposure prophylaxis) Hotline is available to all New Yorkers living outside of New York City who may have had a non-occupational exposure to HIV. Exposures may occur:
- During a sexual event when a condom is not used
- When a condom malfunctions
- Through shared injection paraphernalia
- As a result of a non-sexual incident, such as an accidental needlestick
HIV exposure is an emergency. If PEP medication is started as soon as possible, it can stop an exposure from becoming an infection. PEP should be started as soon as possible, but no longer than 72 hours after exposure.
If you believe you may have been exposed, call the PEP Hotline number now: 844-PEP-4NOW (844-737-4669).
